Democracy is under threat and the progress is actually dwindling. A mere 13% of the global population enjoys the privileges of a democracy and the democratic progress over the past three decades seems to have vanished. Political parties experience reduced memberships as the far-right movements are gaining momentum.
As journalist and author Jan Scherman travels through South Africa, England, Sweden, Hungary and U.S.A. he uncovers unnerving truths about the threats to our democracy. But there is also hope for a brighter future.
